CSM Lo Cascio’s production of dished heads includes two main categories: cold-drawn heads and stamped heads. Cold-drawn heads, available in diameters from 900 mm to 3000 mm and thicknesses from 2.5 mm to 12 mm, are identified in the technical data sheets with the letters “A” to “G”. Stamped heads, with diameters from 350 mm to 1270 mm and thicknesses from 1 mm to 3 mm, are used for autoclaves and primary collection tanks and must be specified in orders. Recently, production has been expanded to include carbon steel heads for pressure vessels, of the “torospheric” type, with or without normalization heat treatment, depending on the type of steel used.
The processed materials have a maximum breaking load of 48/50 kg and a minimum elongation of 22/24%. For bottoms obtained from welded discs or for which, after forming, X-ray control of the welds is foreseen, the latter will be subjected to
testing and heat treatment only if specifically requested.
